Philanthropy Through Art: Michelle and Yohan Poonawalla Contribute to the ‘Move for Cancer Awareness’ Initiative at Tata Memorial Hospital, Mumbai
Bringing together the worlds of art and philanthropy, acclaimed artist and philanthropist Michelle Poonawalla contributed two of her celebrated artworks — ‘Graffiti Ganesha’ and ‘Divine Blessings’ to the annual ‘Crimson Charity Gala 2025 – Where Couture Meets Compassion’, held recently. The event was organised under the ‘Move for Cancer Awareness’ initiative by the MCan Foundation, founded by fashion designer Maheka Mirpuri in support of Tata Memorial Hospital, Mumbai.
Now in its 13th year, the Crimson Charity Gala continues its mission of hope and humanity, having raised ₹11.8 crores in support of Tata Memorial Hospital for head and neck cancer patients. The event unites art, fashion, and philanthropy to drive meaningful change, witnessing enthusiastic participation from patrons and collectors who come together to support a cause that touches countless lives. Michelle Poonawalla’s artworks, known for their spiritual depth, expressive abstraction, and uplifting energy, drew notable interest from bidders, reflecting both her artistic acclaim and her enduring dedication to humanitarian causes. This year’s edition of the Crimson Charity Gala further strengthened that commitment, raising ₹4.28 crores in support of Tata Memorial Hospital’s efforts to provide care for underprivileged cancer patients.
Reflecting on her association with the initiative, Michelle Poonawalla, Director, Poonawalla Group, shared, “Art has the power to move hearts and minds.
