Samarpan Health Highlights Core Leadership and Psychiatry Team Driving Excellence in Mental Health and Addiction CareDay
Samarpan Health, India’s leading premier rehabilitation and mental health organisation with centres in Mulshi, Pune, and an outpatient facility in Churchgate, Mumbai, is proud to highlight its core leadership and psychiatry teams at the helm, ensuring its commitment to internationally benchmarked, ethical care. At the forefront of this vision are Martin Peters, Chief Operating Officer, and Obi Unaka, Chief Clinical Officer, both respected leaders in the global mental health space who are also practising clinicians. They are joined by Senior Clinical Psychologist Dr. Nikita Bhati and two distinguished psychiatric experts, Dr Anu Kant Mittal and Dr. Priyanka Mahajan.
Martin Peters, COO, brings over three decades of experience in mental health, addiction, and high-performance recovery across the UK, Asia, and the Middle East. He is a Registered Nurse with the UK’s Nursing and Midwifery Council, and holds a BA (Hons) in Social Policy and Administration from the University of Plymouth and a Diploma in Nursing Studies from the University of the West of England. With certifications in Substance Abuse Therapy (APCB), Advanced Relapse Prevention (GORSKI-CENAPS), and Cognitive Behaviour Therapy, his clinical approach combines structure with sensitivity. Martin continues to work directly with clients, particularly in areas such as relapse prevention, crisis management, and transitional care, while overseeing all operational and governance aspects of the organisation.
With over 25 years of experience as a psychotherapist, Obi Unaka, Chief Clinical Officer, leads the clinical strategy and supervises treatment programs across both locations. He holds a BSc (Hons) in Addictions Psychotherapy from the University of Bath and is certified in EMDR, Clinical Supervision, Cognitive Analytic Therapy, and Relapse Prevention. Obi specialises in trauma, personality disorders, family systems, and substance use disorders. He remains actively involved in client care, delivering therapy grounded in evidence-based modalities including CBT, DBT, EMDR, and group facilitation. An unwavering commitment to ethical practice and clinical rigour defines his leadership.
Adding further depth to the organisation’s psychological expertise is Dr. Nikita Bhati, Senior Clinical Psychologist. A PhD in Clinical Psychology from AIIMS and trained at premier institutes including NIMHANS and the Object Relations Institute in New York, Dr. Bhati is a highly respected clinician and supervisor. With over a decade of practice, her expertise spans trauma, dissociative disorders, and complex psychological presentations. At Samarpan, she contributes both as a senior clinician and mentor, helping to guide therapeutic strategies while fostering the growth of young psychologists. Her blend of clinical depth and supervisory experience makes her an integral force in strengthening Samarpan’s culture of excellence, compassion, and innovation in psychological care.
Complementing this leadership are Samarpan Health’s experienced psychiatrists, Dr Anu Kant Mittal and Dr Priyanka Mahajan, whose expertise ensures that clients receive precise diagnoses and treatment plans supported by the latest advancements in psychiatric care.
Dr Anu Kant Mittal brings more than 30 years of distinguished experience across psychiatry, psychotherapy, and medical ethics to Samarpan Health. His career spans leadership roles in both India and the UK, including serving as National President of the Indian Association of Private Psychiatry. At Samarpan, he plays a pivotal role in shaping advanced psychiatric interventions, integrating medication management with therapeutic care, and mentoring the next generation of clinicians. His presence strengthens Samarpan’s vision of delivering ethical, client-centred mental health care that meets international standards. Along with him is Dr Priyanka Mahajan, with over 13 years of experience in adult psychiatry, with a specialist focus on personality disorders, obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), and complex mood presentations. Her approach is defined by clinical rigour, emotional nuance, and deep respect for the therapeutic relationship. Her international training as a Member of the Royal College of Psychiatrists (UK), combined with her academic and clinical journey through some of India’s most recognised institutions, equips her with a comprehensive and progressive outlook on mental health treatment. Together, they form an integral part of Samarpan’s multidisciplinary approach, ensuring that every client benefits from both medical and psychological perspectives.
