HCG Abdur Razzaque Ansari Cancer Hospital, Ranchi, organized The Pink Carpet, a unique ramp walk dedicated to celebrating the resilience and courage of breast cancer champions and women icons. With the theme “Go Pink, Get Screened,” the event called for early screening, raised awareness, and united communities in the fight against breast cancer. The presence of Smt. Neha Arora, IAS, Executive Director of Jharkhand State Arogya Society, Department of Health, Medical Education & Family Welfare, Government Of Jharkhand, Ranchi added significance to the event.

The event witnessed 60-80 number of breast cancer survivors) and various women icons from diverse fields “walking the ramp” with confidence and elegance. The event was also attended by over 120 guests including families, medical professionals, NGOs, etc.

The ramp walk was not just about fashion but about strength, elegance, and hope. Thrivers walking across the stage symbolized resilience and conveyed a strong message about the importance of timely screening. Senior doctors and hospital representatives emphasized HCG’s commitment to driving awareness on breast cancer and the importance of regular screening. They also urged women to make health a priority and undergo timely check-ups.

Dr. MD Aftab Alam Ansari, Senior Consultant – Radiation, Oncology, HCG Cancer Hospital, Ranchi, said, “As we observe Breast Cancer Awareness Month, it is crucial to recognize that cancer is no longer confined by age. While genetics play a role, lifestyle, diet, and environmental factors are increasingly influencing risk among younger women. Sedentary habits, processed foods, and late pregnancies are contributing to this trend. Events like The Pink Carpet create a landmark moment for the community, inspiring families through survivor stories and emphasizing the life-saving importance of early detection and timely medical care.

Dr. Chandrashekhar Prasad Singh, Consultant - Medical, at HCG Abdur Razzaque Ansari Cancer Hospital, Ranchi said- “Only a small fraction of women knows how to perform a proper self-breast exam. Fear and stigma often keep them from seeking help. Awareness programs play a vital role in encouraging early detection, fostering conversations, and empowering communities to prioritize health and support each other.”
