74% respondents wrongly believe that antibodies develop just after the first dose of COVID vaccine: Public App Quiz
With the coronavirus vaccine drives in progress, Public App conducted a myth-busting quiz on the platform. With almost 4 lakh respondents, the aim was to understand how people are perceiving the ongoing coronavirus vaccination and to stop the spread of misinformation.
A combination of statements was displayed to the user, and they had to guess if it is true or false. This was followed with the display by the correct facts from verified sources.
One dose of the vaccine will not develop antibodies!
Almost two-thirds of the respondents believed that antibodies instantly start developing post the first dose of the vaccine. Contrary to this, AIIMS Director Dr. Randeep Guleria stated that antibodies generally develop two weeks after receiving the second dose.
Well, don’t lower your guard and give your body some time to build that immunity back up!
No getting rid of the mask any time soon!
You read that right – the mask is definitely here to stay for a while! A vaccinated person should continue to take necessary precautions including, regularly sanitizing, wearing masks, and ensuring social distancing as stated in the Centre for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) guidelines. As many as 80% of the people busted this myth correctly.
Survived COVID? You still need a vaccine!
If you have managed to fight the battle against coronavirus and have recovered, that does not mean that you can skip the vaccine! As many as, 42% of people said that one does not need a vaccine if they have survived coronavirus. However, as per the CDC guidelines, it is important to get the vaccine irrespective of the fact if they have gotten exposed to the virus or not in the past.
Vaccine not equal to freedom from coronavirus
The vaccine is not the magic dose that will bid farewell to the virus overnight, and 70% of people answered correctly to the claim! If your body has not had enough time to build antibodies, you could still get infected with COVID. CDC says that even vaccinated people could potentially still get COVID-19 and spread it to others.
